Feel more present in your life and relationships. Regain trust in yourself.
Therapy for Substance Use & Addiction
You’ve told yourself this would be the “last time” more times than you can count… but you’re still stuck in the same cycle.
At first, drinking or smoking marijuana helped quiet your thoughts, lower your stress, or take the edge off—but now it’s creating its own set of problems. You wake up feeling like shit, physically and mentally. The guilt and disappointment in yourself are overwhelming, and you wonder why you keep doing something you don’t even enjoy anymore. You want to feel better, get back in control, and stop letting this run your life, but you’re not sure why stopping feels so hard.
Or maybe, you grew up around alcoholism or addiction, or are currently living with someone whose use keeps you on edge. You’ve learned to stay alert, read the room, and always try to keep things from escalating. You worry more about other people’s reactions than your own needs, feel guilty when you try to set limits, and feel like you should be able to fix this somehow. Trust doesn’t come easily, and neither does focusing on yourself.
You’re here because you…
Keep trying to cut back or stop, only to find yourself using again before you know it and wondering why willpower hasn’t been enough.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
I most commonly work with people struggling with alcohol and marijuana use. Many clients come in feeling stuck in cycles of wanting to stop or cut back, then feeling disappointed when they can’t follow through.
-
That’s completely fine. You don’t need to label yourself in any particular way to work with me. If your substance use is causing stress, guilt, or problems in your life, therapy can help you understand what’s happening and explore healthier ways of coping.
-
That’s okay. We’ll talk openly about your goals and concerns, and look at what feels realistic for you. Depending on your situation, we may discuss abstinence, harm reduction, or other paths forward that make sense.
-
If someone needs medical detox or a higher level of care due to the severity of their use, outpatient therapy alone may not be appropriate. In those cases, I help connect people with the right level of support and remain involved when possible.
-
Not necessarily. For some people, 12-step or other support groups are helpful, and for others they aren’t the right fit. We’ll talk about what kinds of support make sense for you and explore options together.
-
Slips are treated as part of the learning process, not as a definitive failure. If this occurs during our work together, we’ll look at what happened, what was going on at the time, and how to strengthen your ability to respond differently moving forward.
